FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT

A HISTORY OF EQUESTRIAN EXCELLENCE

Once the home of HRH Princess Anne’s horses, and run by Alison Oliver, wife of highly regarded showjumper Alan Oliver, Brookfield Equestrian has a history steeped in equestrian excellence.

Under the ownership and management of John and Chloe Perry for the past three decades, Brookfield has grown into one of the premier equestrian facilities in Berkshire. John and Chloe’s passion for young horses, and in particular event horses, is clearly apparent in the attention to detail and care they display for all the horses in their care. But is particularly apparent in the horses that carry the Brookfield name, showing great success from young horse classes to Championship level.

In making Brookfield Equestrian what it is today, John and Chloe have built a yard based on professionalism, and the highest levels of care for their equine inhabitants, whilst also maintaining a relaxed and friendly environment for their livery clients to enjoy. As a livery at Brookfield, clients benefit from John and Chloe’s extensive knowledge and support, along with the use of the first-class facilities and world-class visiting trainers.

"Brookfield Equestrian has been instrumental in the care and education of my horse for the past 5 years.
The team Chloe and John have built are second to none and the attention to detail to every horse under their care is testament to both their knowledge and skill.
I chose Brookfield based on its professionalism and facilities coupled with the excellent on site tuition from coaches who are experts in their discipline.
Whilst I work in central London, it was important for me to know that I could trust the staff to look after my horse’s every need. From the Farrier to the Vet, there is always someone on hand to take care of anything you require.

Based in a calm and quiet location with ample schooling and turn out, Brookfield is a 5 star livery yard and I wouldn’t want my horse to be anywhere else."

“Having competed at high level showjumping as a young rider back in France, I was looking for a professional but friendly horse yard when I moved to London. After visiting lots of yards, none of which seemed appropriate, a friend recommended Brookfield Farm.

After a few minutes of visiting the yard and meeting Chloe, I was convinced: the yard was clean, well maintained, with all the necessary facilities, whilst having professional staff who knew how to take care of horses and ride them across all disciplines. In addition, there were international-level riders who came to give lessons on a regular basis.

Even though I have now moved out of London, the yard is still easily accessible for me, and the level of service provided has always been of the best standards. There are regular SJ clinics with Frank Bourny and Yogi Breisner (who trains Team GB). This has allowed me to be competitive on the SJ circuit qualifying for the UK showjumping championship in Aintree in 2013 and finishing in the top 10."

“I have been a livery at Brookfield Farm Equestrian Centre since 2010. After training and competing my German Hanoverian, Charlie, for seven years, I was ready for a new challenge, so I decided to get a youngster to bring on for eventing. Chloe helped me find and buy a lovely four year old in Ireland last year. Fifi, a mare by OBOS Quality 004, has a great temperament and a powerful jump and at Brookfield, I have done the basic training with her; Chloe and John always there to offer invaluable advise when needed.

Fifi’s a fantastic prospect and I would never have been able to find her without Chloe’s contacts and help. Now five, Fifi has had her first eventing season with a win at BE90 and placings at BE100. Following Chloe’s eventers’ development and progress with professional riders is really interesting and great motivation for an amateur like me with a young horse to bring on.

The regular trainers who come to Brookfield are also invaluable, whether training an older horse or bringing on a youngster. For me, Debbie Childs has been very influential, improving me as a rider and progressed my horses at the same time. Not to mentioned the maybe less regular trainers, like Yogi Breisner, who give workshop-like sessions from time and sometimes monthly and are then on hand to offer any advise you have the imagination to ask them about."

“Since 2008 I have had help from John & Chloe and the team at Brookfield. They helped me find and produce my young horse. Now he is aged 9, I can honestly say the support, care, training and advice in producing a young horse has been invaluable. In fact, it has prevented things going wrong and helped create a calm and balanced eventer!

With a busy job, involving travel and a small baby, I rely on the team, not only to provide high class care but also to ride my horse. Emma Dougal has competed Ned for me this season and he is now competing at Novice level.

I have also made some great friends on the yard, all of which have supported me during the ups and downs.

For me, I would never have been able to have a young horse and a busy job without the knowledge, professionalism and support from everyone at Brookfield!"

Fiona Carruthers, Berkshire

“When Rupert (my horse) and I arrived at Brookfield over two and a half years ago, it was touch and go as to whether Rupert would recover from injury to be able to compete again.

I chose John and Chloe for several reasons: their open, straightforward and friendly manner; their knowledge and expertise in training horses and riders (at any level) for competition and in rehabilitating horses after injury; the excellent facilities at Brookfield and quality of the staff and the general overall care and support, both physical and emotional to both horse and owner!

Although it’s been quite a journey, with John and Chloe’s guidance, I have acquired another horse to take the pressure off Rupert and to allow him the time he needed to rebuild his strength (and his attitude to work) after a long time off and to allow me to train and develop.

John and Chloe have been there all the way; encouraging, supporting and cajoling, when necessary, and now Rupert is competing again and better than ever. I have learnt a huge amount along the way and made a whole new set of friends and gained a social life; (the parties are famous!); I have had the chance to train with some of the best riders in the world, had the most tremendous fun, improved my own skills, and have two wonderful horses.

What more could I ask?”

Susan Moore, Berkshire

“I have kept a horse at Brookfield since 2005 and can’t recommend it highly enough. I have had a huge amount of help over the years, starting in 2005 when Chloe and John helped me get started with a new horse after a long break from riding.

Over the years, I have had lots of fun eventing at intro and pre-novice level and have competed to a good standard in dressage – helped by the brilliant trainers available at Brookfield – progressing to the British Dressage Regional Championships at novice level and hopefully soon also for elementary.

As well as being very professional and providing excellent care for the horses at livery there, Brookfield is a very friendly yard and there’s always something going on.”

“Brookfield Equestrian Centre is an outstanding stables for both horse and rider care. The staff are professional, helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them. The facilities are excellent and well maintained – it’s lovely to have an indoor school to use when the weather is bad. My horse is has been on full livery there for the last two years, is in great condition and I don’t have to worry about her well-being.

Chloe and John are very knowledgeable and are incredibly supportive of their clients. It’s a great yard for all types of rider – from happy hackers to serious competitors and the visiting instructors are happy to share their expertise irrespective of your ambitions.

Chloe and Becky (Head Girl) have been fantastic helping me rebuild my confidence and riding fitness after a period of ill-health, I can’t thank them enough. And the icing on the cake – it’s only ten minutes drive to Windsor Great Park for amazing hacking!”
