Life At Brookfield Equestrian

EVERY HORSE RECEIVES THE VERY BEST IN EQUINE CARE FROM A HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL TEAM

Life at Brookfield isn’t just about the exceptional levels of care for the horses, or the facilities on offer. It’s about the fun created and shared along the way, the friendships formed and the support from one another – it’s about the Brookfield equestrian family. There’s always an event to look forward to and enjoy, whether that is a summer barbeque, a drinks party or the annual Christmas dinner and dance.

At Brookfield Equestrian there is a strong belief that it is more fun to work together, as a team, and support each other along the way. Whether your goal is to hack around Windsor Great Park, to improve your general riding or to prepare for competition, everyone is made welcome and is encouraged to join in.

WITH A LIFELONG PASSION FOR HORSES AND EQUINE SPORTS

John Perry

Owner

John left school and headed straight for Lambourn’s racing industry. He has bred, trained, and ridden Point-to Point, National Hunt, and flat racehorses to the winner’s enclosure. However, his favourite were Anglo-Arab flat racehorses where he had tremendous success.

On the yard, John specialises in getting horses jumping and regularly helps liveries with their jumping style and confidence.

John used to team chase with the Boring Gorings and led them to second place at the 2005 National Team Chase Championships. He was also trainer to the late Phillip Scouller giving him his 50th winner at Tweseldown on Sulphur Springs.

John now focuses his time being the Master of the Berks and Bucks Draghound Hunt as well as training two point-to-pointers which are both qualified and already starting racing. Liveries regularly join John for a day with the Hunt over the winter. It has proven excellent in getting horses ready for their cross country – as well as being a great day out!

Chloe Perry

Owner

Having over 25 years’ experience, both running a busy competition yard and riding herself, in both eventing and show jumping, Chloe is uniquely placed to train, help and support liveries and their horses. This includes training programs, fitness regimes and finding the right horse for a rider, to build a successful partnership.

Chloe produces top class event horses for professionals and amateurs. With an eye for a good four-year-old, she buys young horses, both broken or unbroken and manages all schooling, training, and fitness work from the yard.

When the horses are ready to start their competitive career, the horses are carefully paired with one of the very best professional riders to help them progress smoothly into eventing.

Brookfield Staff

Brookfield employs experienced grooms who have already worked with competition horses in various disciplines. Each groom will look after and care for the same group of horses daily.

This consistency enables them to get to know each horse incredibly well and spot immediately, if there is a change in health or demeanour.

We believe our customer’s horses should only be ridden by people we would trust to ride our own, so we invest a great deal in the training of our staff. Our staff receive regular training on livery horses, using the same instructors that we use for ourselves.

We are very lucky to have some of the best in the business!

Sophie Callard

Sophie grew up in the Pony Club and found the love for eventing with the superstar pony, Craig Mor Tom. Moving through the junior levels Sophie competed at Pony Trial, Junior and Young Rider level before moving up to Advanced. 4-years-ago Sophie started riding part-time, for Chloe and John, focusing on the young horses, and made the move to being at Brookfield Equestrian full-time in January of 2021.

“I love being part of the Brookfield team and the opportunities for building a team of horses that comes with it.”

Philippa James

Physiotherapist

I grew up on the family farm in Wales where we breed Welsh ponies and Cobs at the Sianwood Stud. We show at the top level. and I have been lucky enough to compete at HOYS and Olympia. I am currently enjoying training my two horses, one of which competes in the Cotswold Cup eventing series and the other in retrained racehorse classes. After completing a Veterinary Nursing degree at Bristol University I went on to study Equine Physiotherapy and now have my own business based in Lambourn.

I am passionate about racing, eventing and most other equine sports. Clients include national hunt trainer Nicky Henderson, leading thoroughbred studs and top eventer Tom McEwen.
I visit Brookfield on a regular basis and offer a range of Physiotherapy options from routine equine massage to more specific treatments such as laser and ultrasound therapy to suit individual requirements. I take great interest in my clients horses and really enjoy following their progress.

Steve Howard

Farrier
